In 2003, PRONTO provided Thanksgiving dinners for over 400 families. In 2004, 800 families received a Thanksgiving dinner. In 2005, over 900 families received Thanksgiving dinners. For 2006, statistics have shown that the number of clients that have received services on a regular basis through PRONTO has almost doubled across the board. As of June 2006, over 16,000 individuals had received services from PRONTO and in 2005, PRONTO ended the year serving 18,000 individuals.
In the past, turkey donations have arrived at PRONTO approximately two to three days before the holiday. However, in order for PRONTO and its volunteers to service as many families as possible, distribution will begin on Monday, November 13, 2006. PRONTO plans to distribute Thanksgiving baskets to all registered families until November 22, 2006, the evening before the Thanksgiving holiday. Therefore, we are reaching to you once again for your support through either a frozen turkey drive or any monetary support to allow us to purchase frozen turkeys and the essential items. The statistics continue to demonstrate that the Bay Shore, Central Islip and Brentwood communities continue to grow demanding various services. PRONTO searches on a regular basis to improve and to expand services in order to meet the growing needs of the communities. PRONTO is able to provide necessary services and programs through the ongoing support of donations received from community supporters and friends.
Support of donations whether furniture, clothing, home goods, food or monetary are filtered directly to the community. Donations from a variety of supporters, allows PRONTO to provide quality services to the community at no cost.
Another aspect to assisting PRONTO in maintaining the philosophy of “people helping people” is fundraisers. Fundraisers support our effort to maintain a clean and professional atmosphere. The basic costs of running a business and maintaining quality staff is a result of continued successful fundraising events.
PRONTO takes great pride not just in the quantity of individuals served through our programs, but even more in the quality services provided on a regular basis. Clients are treated with respect and with dignity because the staff and volunteers providing the service hold in their hearts a gift of caring. Staff and volunteers are able to participate in the mission of PRONTO because it is truly a wonderful place to be. This is possible due to the support received through the various fundraising events.
Because of you, we have been able to do more than anyone could have dreamed 37 years ago when PRONTO began in the church basement. And our mission is far from over, the current economic climate is a greenhouse that continually widens the gap between the haves and the have-nots. Your support today could not be more important to us and the people we serve.
This is the season for giving thanks. Please be mindful to share your good fortune with those who need it most. The best way to give “Thanks” is to demonstrate your love for your neighbor by giving the best of yourself.
“Because of you, we have been able to do more than anyone could have dreamed 37 years ago when PRONTO began in the church basement.”
