About PRONTO

PRONTO is a Long Island based non-profit human service agency which provides various services to the needy, the homeless, unemployed, immigrants, uninsured and anyone in need of basic services. PRONTO provides these services in the Tri-Hamlet (Town of Islip) area and its surrounding communities. PRONTO’s philosophy stems from its faith-based beginnings. Each person is encountered with compassion, patience, understanding, and encouragement. In this way we meet the immediate needs of the person, while providing hope and resources for their future.

Who do we help? Whoever walks through our doors. This includes the woman just out of the hospital who can’t afford a prescription… the single parent who needs help feeding her children… the homeless person who knows he can find a sandwich and a smile… the family who just moved in and can’t afford a kitchen set… the senior citizen who’s looking for help to fill out forms and some friendly faces… and thousands of others. In fact, PRONTO serves, on average, more than 1,200 households annually with information and referral services.

Families and individuals throughout Suffolk County have come to rely on PRONTO for food, basic essentials and household needs. PRONTO offers a variety of programs including the Food Pantry, the Thrift Storage Area, English as a Second Language classes, a Prescription Program, a children’s Shots For Tots Program and several other community service programs.
